"Criticism is both the easiest & least effective form of help."
Doesn't this make you reel back in your memory to times when you spoke harshly to a family member/co-worker/friend, trying to correct what was "wrong" with them ...
Or flashback to that moment in school when that teacher scolded and shamed you in front of the class ...
Or that time your boss snapped awful words your direction, assuming you would be so disappointed in yourself that you would work harder -
BUT
All you wanted to do after being criticized is NOT do anything else for that person in the future?
YEP.
Remember this important rule of thumb as you continue forward as a mentor, teacher, parent, employer, friend or sibling.
Guard what comes out of your mouth and remember that if it is sharp, it will sting. And people who are stung, shamed or made to feel little are not inspired to do BIG things for you.
That's just how it goes.
Choose your words with kind wisdom.
